Tell us a little bit about your background and why you joined Workforce Matters.
I joined Strada (then USAFunds) in 2014. The majority of my work here at Strada has focused on philanthropic initiatives that create more equitable pathways between education and careers. I currently steward our Employer and Community College Partnership Challenge grant portfolio and our partnerships in the state of Hawaii. Collaboration is a core piece of Strada’s mission as we believe that in order to create more equitable pathways to prosperity we are all going to need to work together. I am really excited to have the opportunity to work with and learn from my colleagues on the Workforce Matters Steering Committee.
What is something people might not know about you?
If I wasn’t working in Education I would probably be working in the fashion industry. In college, I helped a friend launch a clothing company that uses profits to provide school uniforms and supplies for students across the world. I learned so much during those couple of years working for the company and I really enjoyed working in the space. My father and I are always cooking up ideas of clothing we would like to produce, so I suspect in the near future I will begin working on a project with him. I am particularly intrigued by the movement away from fast fashion to more sustainable materials and practices.
What is something you are looking forward to this summer?
My wife and I have four kids (10, 8, 6, and 1) and I am just looking forward to enjoying the summer with our crew. We have a couple of trips planned but we moved to the Atlanta area last summer to be closer to family and we look forward to exploring our new home a little more now that we are settled in. I am hopeful our summer will be filled with lots of time outside and a few Atlanta Braves games.
